Last-week we had our first get-togheter with the team in Åre.

It was a great week involving a bit of skiing, testing our new bikes and just a good time hanging out in the village.

The beginning of the week the weather was really bad so we did more skiing than riding our bikes and hoping for better weather at the end of the week. But we were all happy to ski a bit of fresh snow.

The last three days we had really good weather and tried to get as mutch riding in as possible.

Åre have one downhill track called ”hermans” that everyone help to clear from snow all winter so we did a lot of runs there and also went to hit the big jumps early in the mornings before the lift opens.

Overall we had a really fun week where we got to hang out with our new team-member Jakob a bit more and got to know him a bit better.
We got to spend some time on the new bikes to dial things in a little and get all the basic things in place.

On thursday Robin & Niklas are flying to San Remo-Italy with the swedish national team to test the new bikes on a proper track and prepare for WC. 1 in South Africa wich is just 3 weeks away.

Just won the Scandinavian cup finals in Åre.

Pretty happy with it i really forced myself to ride SPD´s for the race to do some serious practice with them on a propper and muddy track.

It´s been a great weekend in the village and we managed to get some riding in on the rest of the mountain aswell so definetly a good end to the season.

They made a few small changes to the track wich were good but it was decided that we would start a bit further down the mountain then normal wich made the track just about 3 minutes instead of 4.30.

After a rainy night the track was pretty muddy and i felt real uncomfortable this morning on the clips but i got through it and feel like i´m ready to pull them out when i wan´t now and still feel comofortable.

My run started out a bit wrong unclipping in a turn up top and struggled a bit to get back in. Then i just rode cautious and safe not to crash and it was enough to win it so i´m happy with that. Realy felt like i needed to end the season good and i have had 3 wins in a row now so it feels a bit better to head into the off-season and put in the work.

Niklas hurt his foot a bit yesterday trying my little huck out of the last woods so he had to strap it up today.

But he rode to a 5th spot today wich was ok even though he wasn´t happy with it.

We are staying in Åre for a few days doing some scientific tests on downhill together with the university in Östersund wich should be interesting.

Just won the nordic champs!

Today the Nordic champs took place in Kungsberget-Sweden.

The track was almost brand new and with all the rain we had for the last weeks it looked pretty miserable when we walked it on friday.

It was however a lot better when you actually rode it and it had a lot of technical sections where you had to carry speed and also a little bit of pedaling.

I had a pretty ridiculous crash during morning practice yesterday when i caught my pedal on a root in one of the last flat bits of the track. It sent me over the bars and i didn´t put my hands out so i lost breathing bad and got a sore back and swollen knee from it.

In qualifying i just wanted to have a decent run to have something to work from for the finals and to really be safe and not crash again.

Seems like it worked out good and i was in first with Matti Lehikoinen in second just 0.9 of my time.

Niklas has been struggling with a cold and fever for the last days but he qualified 7th.

In the finals i just knew that i could shave of a couple of seconds and try to go for it cause i really wanted to win badly and i knew it wasn´t going to be easy to beat Matti.

I started of by un-clipping in the first woods and somehow i just couldn´t get it back in again untill i had passed the next little rock-garden and i sweared that i would never ride clips again.

I caried on good but then as i was about to exit the woods i saw Matti on the ground next to the track. 100 metres later i almost ran over the medics who were for some reason running up the track without anyone putting a red-flag up to stop me.

I got my things together and finnished of strong at the bottom wich ended up being enough to win by 3.92 seconds.

There should have been a red flag and the race should have been stopped but things happend a bit to quickly for the marshalls i guess and they forgot that there was one rider left on track.

Niklas had a few misstakes and just couldn´t get the feel for it with his cold. He ended up 5th just about 1 second of 3rd place.

The joy of winning wasn´t very long lasting as i pretty quickly understood that Matti had crashed bad and was seriously injured.

All i realy know is that he hit his head so hard that the helmet colapsed and he has likely broke his jaw, nose and lost a few teeths.

Hopefully his head-trauma is not as bad as it could be but the last news i had was that he was in intensive care and under surgery at the moment so i will try and visit him tomorrow if the hospital will allow me.

I feel so sorry for him that at the moment i haven´t reflected much about winning the race.

First and second for the team at the Swedish cup in Falun.

Great day for the team at the swedish cup in Falun taking first & second at the short track.

Most of the track in Falun is man made with big jumps and berms wich also makes for quite a bit of pedaling.

Robin did his first ever race on SPD´s and it was also the second time that he even tried it on the downhillbike so it was a great performance stepping it up to win big on the first race on them and hopefully he can be comfortable enough on them for WC-1 next year.

The racing was extremely tight on the short track and Niklas was in the lead by only 2 tenths of a second until Robins time came up beating the time of Niklas by almost 3 seconds and taking the win.

Both Niklas and Robin had a very solid weekend qualifying first & third and finnishing 1-2 in the final.

Next stop is Nordic champs the upcoming weekend and the boys will definetly give their best to finish the season strong.

Scandinavian cup-Oppdal, Norway

The team is set to race the last two rounds of the Scandinavian cup and this weekend it was Oppdal, Norway on the schedule.

Both Robin & Niklas knew the track from before and it was almost the same as when they raced there in 2008.

The weatherforecast for the weekend was rain both saturday and sunday but it stayed dry and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun on the long track and enjoying the dry conditions.

After qualifying it was clear that Robin was on it and looking for a win putting in a 4.31 wich was 9 seconds faster then 2^nd place wich was Niklas with a 4.40.

In the finals almost everyone bettered their times a lot and Niklas came in as 2^nd behind 3^rd place qualifier Kim Petersson by a mere 0.14 of a second.

Last man out was Robin who was almost 5 seconds up at split 2 but then had a slip and went down just before one of the last technical sections. He still sprinted in to the finnish into 3^rd place missing out on the win by 0.34 of a second.

He was obviously dissapointed being on such a good run and not keeping it together all the way til the end but he schooled a lot of the field and showed a bit of his raw talent by still taking a podium spot.

Still a good weekend for the team with both riders on the podium but anything else then a win is obviously a dissapointment for Robin so the goal is a 1st and 2nd at the cup-finals in Åre.

World championship is over.
Robin was looking for a top 10 results, but that didn´t happend.

He crashed in the first wood section, got up and going, crashed again, stoped and took his gloves of, waited 20 sec on the other ride to pass him but he never came. Robin continiued to the finish and ended up in 60th place. Super disappointed with that, the luck hasen´t been on Robins side this year.

Niklas just finnished 8th at the Avalanche race in Åre.
He had 2 Crashes in the final but still managed a top 10 finnish on his downhillbike.

This was also his first ever race with SPD-pedals to start preparing for 2012.

Robin is racing a 4-stage downhillrace in Morgins tomorrow as warm up for worldchamps.

It´s been a while since we updated here, but it´s been hard to find any internet here in the mountains.

After La bresse we went by champery and did one run down the world cup track, wich was pretty sick! After that we headed on to Pila.

In Pila we did some riding and hiking early in the week, and then it was all about racing and the IXS european cup race.

the track in Pila was pretty fun, a lot of turns and both me and Robin felt great on the track.

In seeding I had a crash and seeded in 90th place, Robin took it easy and seeded in 18th place.

In the finals my run was going pretty well, but I starting to feel that i was losing a lot of grip on the back tired, I realized that I had got a puncherd, but it was still a bit of pressure left in the tire, so the straights went allright but there was no way I could ride the turns fast, I ended up in 60th place.

Robin had a pretty good run in the finals, he ended up in 7th place, 2 sec of the winner. Pretty close racing on a 4 minute track.

After Pila we went to the beach for one day and then we went to val di sole.

The track in Val di sole is pretty steep, rough and fast.

I didn´t felt comfortable pushing on this track and that showed in the results, I qualifyed 130th.

Robin aslo had a shitty run, he qualifyed in 55th place. He will definetly better that position in the finals tomorrow.

IXS European Downhillcup in Pila Italy

I helgen valde teamet att stanna till i Aosta dalen för att delta i IXS Europa cupen i Pila. 300 st cyklister valde att delta på den mycket krävande banan som var 2,6 km lång. Många världscup åkare hade valt att delta i väntan på världscup finalen i Val di Sole. Tiderna var tighta och Robin slutade på 7:e plats 2,3 sek efter Florian Payet som vann. Niklas fick punktering under sitt åk och slutade på 60:e plats. För resultat se länk:

La bresse World cup ended early for the team.

Robin suffered a mechanical right out of the startgate and lost his chain during qualifying wich saw him finnishing in a 98th position only 1sec off from qualifying.

The flat top section of the course simply made it impossible to ride chainless even though he went from a 162nd spot at Intermediate 1 to 98th in finnish it wasn´t enough.

Niklas was on the other hand trying a bit too hard and ended up making a few costly misstakes finnishing in a 128th place.

So with both riders missing the finals we can just sit on the sidelines tomorrow and watch the race before heading to Pila-Italy for the IXS-European cup there.

Robin is now focused on World champs but Niklas will most likely not be selected for worlds so he will be riding the Avalanche-cup on home soil in Åre.

"There is still one wc left this season, on a gravity fed, long and rough track that i plan to make good use of"-says Robin.

Practice and day one is over in La bresse. I got delayed a bit this morning due a few minor issues with my brakes that ended up taking a bit more time to fix then expected.

So my day started sort of on the wrong foot and i felt a bit stressed out.

Niklas did 4 runs before i was able to get on the track and ride so i just followed him one run and seemed like he was going pretty fast.

All and all the track is pretty fun but it´s definetly hard to go fast without making mistakes.

I had spikes on the whole day despite that in the afternoon it was dry conditions, but i simply wanted to get my lines sorted and get some runs in before practice was over.

I did 2 runs during timed practice but i felt like i wasn´t comfortable enough on the track to go fast yet but it was good to try to find some rythm and get some speed.

Think the race will be super-tight as it was 10sec from me in 45th to 1st place in timed practice and i reckon it could be even tighter in the finals.

Seems like it should be raining from tomorrow afternoon wich could be good to make it a bit trickier.

Going to try and have a solid qualifier with no misstakes tomorrow and go all in on sunday.

Niklas needs to get his things together tomorrow aswell for a desperate attempt to qualify for world champs so i hope that he does.

We are in La bresse France for the 6th round of the world cup.

We arrived last night and today we just built our stand up, did the registration and trackwalk and ended with a xc-ride in the hills around La bresse.

The track looks prettymuch the same as it did two years ago but with a few new jumps and things that will make it a bit better.

In my opinion i´m not such a great fan of short tracks like this one but atleast it is a lot of natural stuff in it that makes it good. Plus i have been trying to work on some sprints so should be good.

Seems like it will rain during the weekend wich is good for me and i think it will make the track a bit more of a challenge so bring on the rain.

Since i´m not looking for any overall points anymore i´m just looking for a good result and to do what i set out to do before the season wich is to get a top 10 finnish before the season is over.

I feel prettymuch 100% in my hand now after having a bit of a rest so i think i´m ready.

Good news is that today i actually got Erik out on his first XC-ride for atleast a year. Hopefully he can still walk tomorrow... We climbed one of the tops around La bresse and found a really good trail to ride down so it worked out real good and we were pretty pumped afterwards.

Practice is on from tomorrow morning then qualies on saturday and finals on sunday.

Today i got my 3rd elite swedish champs title wich i´m pretty happy about.

The race was super tight with a pretty short & basic track wich was pretty fun but it was hard to go faster then the rest of the field.

It felt like a pretty important race mostly since all the top-swedes were there to race wich makes it more exciting & nervous when it´s more then just 3 guys going at it for the win.

I felt good on track but it was hard to pick out key-sections to work on more then the first woods wich i messed up prettymuch both in my quali and my racerun. But it is so hard to come and race back home for me at the moment as everyone expects me to win big but the tracks are not even half the length (or speed) that we race outside of sweden.

I qualified first by almost 2sec with a semi-solid run so i knew it was on but i also ended up with more pressure..

My finals run started out good in the first little steep section but then i wobbled just a bit further down in the first woods and clipped a rock with my pedal.

I almost went over the bars but carried on. When i tried to pedal i noticed that i couldn´t because i had bent my pedal bad enough to make me having to only have half my foot on the pedal to be able to pedal (othervise i got stuck on the frame)

I did´t put in any pedalstrokes until the flat middle section as i was scared that the pedal would fall apart but i but in a bit of pedalling there and just rode the grass-section good wich ended up being enough to win by just under 1 second.

I was happy to get the win as i feel i have been running a bit on half-speed last few weeks since i broke my thumb and this was good to get my head straight and just ride my bike.

Niklas ended up just missing out on the podium by 0.5 of a second so he wasn´t happy with that. Would have been sick with a 1-2... But he rode great and was on the pace wich was good.

Now we are spending the week in Åre just riding doing a bit of filming and training wich is going to be great and pretty nice with 2 weekends of from racing to get prepared for worlds and the last two wc-races.

Getting ready for tomorrows finals here in Windham.

I had a pretty bad qualifyer yesterday so i actually ended up way down in the results in 61st place.

Times are super tight on this short-course but somehow Aron Gwin pulled away with almost 6seconds lead up on 2nd place wich is insane on this track.

I definetly feel a bit more comfortable with my hand here with the track being half the length of last weekend but you also have to be more flat out here wich makes it harder in one that way.

My run yesterday was pretty awkward. I did a timed run in practice on 2.46 withhout pinning it into the finnish and in my qualifyer i had the same time so it was obvious that i didn´t find a good rythm.
I just started of on top like a passenger and couldn´t find any rythm until the last woods and then the track is prettymuch over.

By looking at the results from qualies there could be some unusual results this weekend.

The track is fun and the bike is working good so i´m looking forward on a solid finals run tomorrow.

Niklas didn´t put it together this weekend and ended up missing the finals wich sucks since i think it would have been good for him to just step up and re-do last weekend but get down in the finals aswell.

Mount st Anne Finals

Hello everyone.

Finals are over here in Mt. ST. Anne and i ended up in 78th place and Robin in 24th place.

My run felt good until I came to the big jump under the lift, I cleared the jump fine but hit a big hole after it and it sent me over the berm that is directly after.

Went through the tape and I almost hit a bunch of spectators, I managed to get the bike to a stop without crashing and I looked up and realised that I had to run back up and join the track on the same place as I exit the track.

So after a 60m sprint up the hill I was on track again, and started to roll down to finish.

I´m super happy that I got to ride the finals for the first time, but i´m really looking forward to top my result in Windham and get down the hill also in the finals.

Robin put together a pretty solid run considering his swollen knee (after crashing in the qualifying) and that he is still suppose to have a cast on for his broken thumb 24th is a very good result.

Now we are about to go for a dinner in Quebec and tomorrow we drive down to Windham for the next WC-stop. Going to make that stick!

I decided to sit todays practice out as my knee is pretty swollen from yesterdays crash but it was good to walk the track while people where riding and get some lines sorted for tomorrow.

About to round of friday. Just had some dinner and almost done cleaning up the mess from today.

I have been feeling quite good on the track. Yesterday i squezeed in 7 runs wich is more then i usually do but it felt good.

Did two timed runs one where i had a front-flat and then another where i had to pull over to get a tear-off of before the lower woods.

The track is pretty brutal with all the mud & holes but i honestly don´t feel like i have struggled at all with my broken thumb so far.

Qualifying today wasn´t very good for me though. I had a pretty smooth & solid run going but i felt like it had dried out way more then i expected and got a bit stressed that i was going to slow.

Anyway i just carried on but in one of the lower wood-sections where you ride on some slab-rocks i messed up a left-hander and went down.

Nothing major but i hit my knee a little bit and i burried my hands in mud so it made it very sketchy to continue.

I almost lost my handlebars coming into the woods where i crashed at worlds just because my grips had gotten so slippery.

I pedalled into the finnish and was pretty certain that i wouldn´t even qualify so i just went to the sick-bay and got cleaned up a little. After having changed i went up to watch Niklas come down and i was so happy for him when he crossed in 69th with just a few riders to come.

It´s weird to say it but it has taken him almost 4 years to qualify at a world cup wich is insane considering how good he is riding at times. But downhill is a frustrating mind-game where you have to put it together in the run that counts.

He said he had a messy run so i look forward on seeing a clean one from him on sunday.

I was so uncertain if i had qualified or not but when they rolled the results i sat in 60th place so i´m actually pretty pleased with that considering a crash and nursing down afterwards.

I wanted to come here and try to turn my season around so i will do my best to do that on sunday.

Day 1 of practise is finished and the track is a mess but also a lot of fun!!!

It´s been raining all day today and when the top 80 had their two hour practise there wasn´t much left of the track.

Robin did two timed runs, he punctured the first run and the second run he had to make a quick stop to pull a tear-off before the last wood section. He was 8th fastes in the time practise wich doens´t say much but he seemed ok with that.

Me however is not in the top 80, but I did two timed runs right before the open practise stoped and it felt pretty good. So I´m really looking forward to the quali tomorrow!

Scandinavian cup-1 Gesunda

A very random and tricky race yesterday in a muddy Gesunda with dissapointing results for both me and mostly Niklas.

I got a cast on my hand when i got back from Leogang. Doctors gave me 6 weeks to heal up but as the thumb is in the right place and all i have decided to just go ahead as scheduled and deal with whatever the consequences will be after the season.

I wanted to continue and race this weekend mostly since i don´t want to fly out to the U.S next week feeling stiff & rusty on my bike.

But i decided to skip practice on both friday & saturday so i could have atleast 2 more days with the cast on and recover.

The track turned in to a propper mudfest over the weekend too wich got me thinking about not riding at all after walking it and seeing all the rocks and other things that you couldn´t see on the bike. It looked like you had to take a lot of chances and it was impossible to know where to really go on the course.

What looked like a good smooth line was just a mud-hole full of hidden rocks to point your bike the other direction.

I saw a lot of crashing and things going on but it was fun to watch for a bit.

Niklas is riding so well at the moment so i feel more dissapointed for him then for me as i think he should have atleast been on the box yesterday.

We both cruised qualifying and i was still sitting 3^rd with Niklas in 6^th so things were looking good and i was feeling better then i expected after just having a couple of runs in on the track in the morning.

My confidence was good and after qualifying i knew i could get the win even as a crippled man.

We walked the track between quali & Final to have a look at a few things and to keep a bit busy instead of sitting around in the pits for 3 hours.

I watched Niklas set of at the top and you could see he was going to crash. You had to be smooth, look ahead and just go but he started of way to agressive and already at the first straight he lost his feet of the pedals and made a misstake. He then crashed and made more misstakes and finnished a dissapointing 14^th place.

My run started of good. I just wanted to look ahead and carry speed as i knew you couldn´t ride the perfect lines and just focus on that with the course being sraight & fast you had to look ahead, don´t brake, point & shoot.

The top half was going good, i felt loose and like i carried good speed all the way even though i had a few slips.

I managed to get down almost the whole track prettymuch the way i wanted to until coming onto the 2^nd last straight wich was a 3metre wide and 30metre long mud-hole filled with rocks.

I had been going on the left side all the time just sending it in there wich was the only thing you could do really. I knew there was a rock just to the left of my line wich people had been hitting and getting bucked over the bars & sideways so i naturally looked at that rock and put my front wheel on it for god knows what reason. I got sideways and that was it.

I just wanted to hang on to the bars and not put my hand down and so i did but down we went.

I got up but i didn´t care about pedalling into the finnish. I was there for a win and nothing else as i´m not racing the full series so who cares about 3^rd or 4^th.

I just scored my worst result ever in any swedish cup i raced ( i think) even with flatyres & crashes i haven´t been of the podium since my first elite-race in –07.

But things are different now. All the first 10 guys are fast now and you have to bring your a-game every weekend to win. This is something good and it shos that the scene back home has really moved forward with all the talent we have.

It is also good for me to come and race to get a bit motivated and pissed and not get away with riding semi-decent and still win like i did just a year or two ago.

Now it is 10 world cup riders gunning about the top positions wich makes it so much more of a race and i hope it also makes it more exciting to watch.

I also do believe the top guys back home have a bit more of confidence racing here then at the world cup wich makes them go faster wich is pretty interesting to see. The top 3 guys yesterday didn´t qualify for any world cups this year but i think they should easily be if they just get their heads straight.

It´s all in your head.

Hallå!

Jag & Niklas kommer lördagen den 25e att hålla bike-clinic i Åre för de som inte tagit för många varv runt midsommarstången...

Vi kommer beroende på intresse splitta dagen med ett gäng på förmiddagen och ett på eftermiddagen. Max antal åkare/halvdag är 10st. Vi hinner helt enkelt inte med alla annars.

Leogang finals then?

Well woke up in a rainy Leogang on raceday felt ready to go and got onto practice.

The top-section of the course got so rutted & muddy it was more like riding moto.

Practice went good but it was hard to find a good rythm.

Normally i would have liked the conditions but i just felt weak in my hand and had to back of and when i tried to go faster i just couldn´t hang on properly.

My racerun didn´t start the way i wanted to with stalling in one of the corners up top and getting a bit stressed.
Made another small misstake in the first woods then another one but put in an effort at the pedalling section and felt like i got into it coming into the lower woods.

I just couldn´t hang on anymore coming into the last steep rooty-section and vobbled out stalling against one of the trees at the entrance of the section.

Finnished up 40th wich is another dissapointing result but i definetly didn´t expect much after a run like that.

Just got back home after 24hours in the car and tomorrow i will pay a visit to the hospital to get my thumb checked out and see what i have to do.

Either way i think the swealling has come down and i will be racing on schedule so see some of you at the Scandinavian cup in Gesunda this weekend.

about to round of saturday night and it has been a pretty hard weekend so far...

I went down in timed training yesterday and it seems i have fractured my left thumb wich makes life pretty hard at the wet & rough track in Leogang.

Still felt ok in practice but i struggled to find any smooth lines where i could hold on.

Took it easy in my qualifier to save my crippled body but also cause i think it could be a smart move to start early tomorrow with the track being beat up...we will see.

Niklas was riding well in practice but i think he was a bit of the pace here wich is understandable.
Even though he says he didn´t think about what happened here last year i think he was pretty happy to simply finnish the race and get it over with.

I sit in 41st after qualifying so thats fine. I reckon i have quite a bit of time to shave of tomorrow. But the conditions are slip & slide so anything can happen.

Fort William Round 2 World cup final

Att få ta del av en världs cup i Storbritannien med en arrangör som har 10 års erfarenhet var stort. Fort William bjöd på ett fantastiskt arrangemang, med två nybyggda inslag:

‘Big Doon’ – grymt stort hopp över en väg in i en 40 gradig lutning och därefter en massa “berms” i skogen. ‘Puggy Pipe’ – ett jätte hopp över en nybyggd tunnel höjde spänningen för alla som väntade i målområdet. Om jag förstod de lokala nyheterna rätt var det ca 11 000 betalande besökare på plats, med bra väder och stora förväntningar var det näst in till karnevalsstämning i målområdet. Med små marginaler i finalen var det definitivt inte möjligt att göra misstag. Greg Minnaar, Sydafrika tog hem segern och Danny Hart ”the wild card”, Storbritannien nöp den andra platsen före Brook Macdonald, Nya Zeeland. Härligt att grytan rörs om och att även otippade kort kan kliva fram och nå toppen. Robin var lugn och samlad inför sitt finalåk men tyvärr så gick det lite för fort i den övre delen av banan, vilket ledde till uråkning och stopp, med några sekunder tapp fladdrade topp 10 drömmen iväg och det slutliga resultatet blev 36:e plats denna helg. Robin är nu rankad 23:a på UCI ranking lista för 2011.

Teamet har nu anlänt till Österrike och Leogang för nästa deltävling i världs cupen.

2,6 km bana med en höjd förändring på 480 meter behövs styrka och en perfekt teknik för att flyta obehindrat genom terrängen. Banan har inslag av både branta hopp, rotiga partier med många berms och andra roliga inslag. Följ tävlingen på http://freecaster.tv/mountainbike

Fort William Qualifying

today we did the qualifycation here in Fort William, it was 180 riders in the startlist.

Robin had a pretty good run, didn't push to hard but still he ended up in 17th which he is pretty happy about!

I did a big mistake and crashed in the wood section and ended in 139th place, not to happy about that but you always learn something new from each race and I´m already looking forward to Leogang.

Hello everyone,

As you all know we had the Swedish cup premier last weekend and there is not much possitive things to say about it.

Robins bag with his passport, wallet, credit card and driving licens got stolen on saturday night, the timing system broke down and they moved the start 50 meter down the course and no qualifying, just one race run.

I finnished 6th place and Robin was 3rd, both quite dissapointed but it was first of all hard to stay motivated having to sit around for hours waiting for the race, then the change to a one-of run and the fact that the track was only 1 minute long made it tight.

However we got the race over with and packed the car and headed to Amsterdam to take the ferry to Newcastle.

First stop was Malmö getting a new passport for Robin wich worked out smoothly and of we went.

When we were checking in at the ferry in Amsterdam we handed over all the passports and the lady in the both had a look through and then went "this passport has expired"...holding up Hermans passport...You should have seen his face!

So we got the ferry re-booked, spent the night in Amsterdam and got a passport sorted at the Swedish embassy the day after...

Finally in Scottland it was (not too surprisingly) raining & windy weather.

The race ended up being cancelled due to the heavy wind wich made it impossible to run the lift and also sketchy to try & ride with the wind blowing people of the track.

A action-packed week wich didn´t quite go as planned.

Now we have a week until the word cup i Fort William,so we are going to do some cross country and maby go fishing for a bit!

The 1'st round in the Swedish Downhill and 4X serie

This weekend Robin lost his identity and all importent papers for the planned trip to Europe and that effected the whole team and off course the results. The backpack was stolen at the place where they stay over the night befor the downhill race. So with all this in there minds for both Niklas and Robin the focus was not so brilliant that it have to be in the races. The organization has problem with the timer so they have no qualification round and need to move the start and shorted the track as well. Anyway Robin ended on 3rd place and Niklas on the 6th. After the race they search and search for the backback but need to face the reality that everything was gone. The police in Malmö help them with a new temporary pass and also give them the possibility to printing out all the racing papers, licens, etc.. The show could go on.
By the way, the day befor the awfull downhill day there was a 4X race where Robin ended on the 1st place and Niklas on the 4th.
Everything has take alot of energy from all of us but now I think the mood is "Positive thinking" in the team just now.

Tough start for the team at WC-1.

Robin & Niklas headed to South Africa for the first world cup of the season knowing what to expect as the course is the flatest and most physicly demanding on the circuit.

Robin was featured on dirtmags wc-preview with his new bike on thursday.

Practice went well, Robin bagged a 18th fastest time in timed-practice on thursday after only 3 runs so things were looking good even tough the track is not very suiting for the flat pedalled brothers.

Objectives were clear for both of them.

Robin wanted to start of the season in the top 20 and Niklas wanted to qualify for the finals as this was his first world cup back since his injury last year.

Niklas ended up at a devastating 82nd with only 0.3 of a second to a place in the finals and the top 80.

Robin qualified 27th with a quite safe run and was confident that he would be able to step it up a bit in the finals.

Unfortunatly Robin went off-line already in the first woods wich made for a messy top-half of the course as he explained:

-"i just wasted all my energy at the top trying to make up for misstakes that lead to new ones.

I think you had to be close to perfect today and i just didn´t put it together but i look forward to Fort William in a few weeks and some propper tracks".

Robin ended up at a 36th place wich is still a good result at a course that definetly doesn´t fit his riding or his flat-pedals very well.

Team will be in Åre this coming weekend attending their classic closing-weekend of the winter season so feel free to stop by the pits if you are in town.

Packing bags again...

Had a good time back home last week. Feel reloaded and ready for South Africa & WC-1.

I have been doing a bit of training back home but no downhillriding as the tracks around my house is not ridable yet so i have to wait another week or two for the snow to dissapear...

Spent last 3 days in Stockholm, visited POC on friday and had a talk about new products that are coming out for next year. Hopefully i can show you guys a sneak-peek of it soon but there is a constant evolution at that place wich makes it exciting & motivating!

Yesterday me and Niklas rode Stockholms no.1 trailcenter "Hellas" for 3 hours in sun and +15 degrees! It was pretty sick.

It also gave me a chance to try out my new A.M/XC bike wich amazed me how good it is! Bike has 150mm of travel but it doesn´t feel like anything when you climb it.
And we have worked out a geometry for it that makes it dangerous to ride downhill with! Slacked Headangle and shorter chainstays makes it easy to feel comfortable...maybe a bit to easy...think i need to start wearing a fullface helmet on the xc-rides now.

Not much to report here. Sun is out again today so i don´t feel like sitting in front of the computer at all!

I will try to keep everyone posted on whats going on in S.A but as it will only be me & Niklas on site racing time is limited. Look forward on the first European rounds so we can actually afford bringing the whole crew!

After a 38 h drive from Barcelona, we are finally back home in Sågmyra again, spending some time with family and friends and getting everything ready for WC nr.1 in South Africa.

I guess Robins biggest intrest beside riding bike is trucking the yellow beast, I only got to drive 300 km of the 3000 km we had to Sweden.

Like always it has been a trip to remember, from living like bums to eating lunch with wild dogs.

I struggled a bit in the beginning, being the first days back on some real downhill tracks after the injury last season, but I just took my time and now i actually feel like everything is back to where it used to be and I´m feeling really happy and exited for this season.

But overall it has been a good start of the season for both me and Robin.

The last weekend in Barcelona we had a training camp with the swedish national team, check out the video from that:

Hopefully i can bring you all some more exciting news from South Africa. From what Robin has told me & from what i could see on the helmetcam-shot of the track i´m happy that i have put in the work to get in shape this winter.

Säsongens första race avklarat!

Helgens racer i Sant andreu gav ett posetivt besked för teamet.

Efter bara en vecka på den nya cykel så kan det vara svårt att köra in sig på ett top resultat på engång men Robin tog sig in på en 4 plats, 3 sek efter Fabian Barel som vann, medans Niklas var längre ner i resultatlistan på en 13e plats men fick kliva upp på pallen i U23 klassen på en 2a plats.

Nu beger vi oss till Madrid för några dagars cykling och häng hoss El gallo.

Team has been on the road for 2 weeks already but the lack of internet and a intense schedule has left people wounderring how things are going and what we are up to...?

Well is has been flat out we can tell you.

First week was spent in the classic San Romolo testing the new bikes. Trying different set-ups and getting back into riding downhill after several months away from downhillbikes...

Things were going very well and we have figured out set-ups that works both in the wet & in the dry but there is always something to improve.

After San Romolo we headed for Barcelona with a stop in La Clau bikepark where we had a few good sessions in the jumps & riding their bmx-track.

Team Åre bikepark launch

This past weekend the team had it´s first “gathering” in Åre to kick-off the 2011 season.

We had a few days with great weather shooting a bit of pictures & film, trying out the new bikes and having a few laughs together.

On saturday the swedish cup in Skicross was taking place in Åre so the team got invited to ride the course and show of their skills in between the skiers.

The course was very well prepared so it worked out very well and everyone was looking quite impressed to see the guys riding their bikes down the track almost as fast as the skiers.

Saturday night we had team-bowling-championships at Holiday club. Team photographer Mattias ended up taking that win.

A great weekend in a snowy Åre and we are now ready to head to southern Europe for more testing and the first few races of the season.

I actually rode a bike today and did a few shots with Niklas because he was so pumped on the sunny weather & wanted to get some pics.

I wasn´t in the mood to shoot pictures but i´m glad i did since it worked out this good:

After this mini-session we went for some xc-skiing. Did 16ks of great sunny skiing.

Team Captain of Team Are Bike Park: Robin Wallner

Da Bomb: Hi Robin! How are you today?

Robin Wallner: I’m fine apart from the fact that it is unbelievably cold in Sweden at the moment and I can’t ride my bike.

DB: Tell me about your racing experiences in the last year?

RW: Well I had a lot of different ones. Season started out steady and I was confident that I was going to do well. Then things went wrong. I had several small injuries, crashes, punctures and a lot of hard times.

Also I think it effected me a lot with Niklas getting injured at the world cup in Leogang. It messed with my head for sure. But then I also had the most epic win ever at the European champs. It was special since it was like racing back home, some friends were there and also my parents so it was definitely special to me.

DB: Were you expecting to win the UCI European DH Championships?

RW: No definitely not. I had so many bad races leading up to that race I simply wanted to give it my all and stay on my bike. My goal was to get on the podium but even that would have been sick at the time.

DB: Why did you decide to start your own UCI team?

RW: It just felt weird last two years with me and my brother both racing and wanting to do the same thing but heading off with different teams & sponsors so that is one reason for it. But also I have been able to pick my own sponsors and in the long term I hope that I can help some young-guns and give them the chance to race internationally. I think it is something a lot of riders want to do but I simply had the opportunity to do so and I wanted to do the best I can with this opportunity.

DB: How has it been starting everything between yourself and your small crew of riders? Going well? Busy?

RW: Well I think we have created a great structure of people for the team. Erik Källström will be， myself& Niklas mechanic, great guy who used to ride the world cup just 2 years ago so he knows what he needs to do and I don’t need to worry about that side. Then Carina (my mum) is doing all the papers, logistics, accommodations & registration and finally we hired a up & comer photographer Mattias Lindqvist to come with us and shoot photo and film during the season. But yeah it has been and will be a busy time but it is definitely worth it to be happy and well prepared.

DB: Why did you choose Da Bomb out of all the other bikes on the market? What stands out about their bikes and what is your opinion on their products?

RW: Well first of all we go way back in time. I started off on the brand back in the days and have kept good relations & contacts with you guys through our distribution so it felt like a natural move. I also really like the new bikes coming out for 2011 and I think everyone at the company is real dedicated to step it up and do whatever needs to be done to improve.

DB: What do you wish to accomplish in your first season running and racing Team Are Bike Park?

RW: I want to do what I thought I could last year. Get in that top 10 at the World Cups. Of course I want to try to defend my title as Euro Champ as well but that is a different story, I also want to enjoy the races and being in this group of people feels real good and relaxing so I think it should be a fun year.

DB: Last question, tell me something outrageously hilarious about yourself. Could be anything, anyone any situation? So we can know more about the "other" side of Mr. Robin Wallner.

RW: Well there are so many stories from the road that I really can’t tell you here but last year we had quite a bit of trouble with our van. To make a long story short we had to break in to a rental-car station to find a phone number to the owner and make them come there. Found the phone number and called her up but made the mistake to call from their office-phone.

She saw that we called from her office and got crazy promising us to call the police.

Naturally we ended up without a rental car and had to walk the 12 km back home. We even called on an advert for a PW50 motorbike to not have to walk back.

Don’t know if it’s hilarious but it is a pretty good story and someday I can tell you the full-length version=)
